The Center of Creative Arts is a nonprofit community arts organization located in St. Louis, Missouri. Originally designed by Erich Mendelsohn, a prominent voice in the Streamline Moderne and Art Deco architectural movements, COCA has fostered community and art education since 1986. Renovated by St. Louis architecture firm Christner, the center received an approximate 52,000-square-foot expansion. Key features of the renovation – including a theater, community space, and studios – feature in the Ferring East Wing.
Christner specified three QC products for the East Wing facade: QC300 aluminum panels, QCglass panels, and QClite panels. The facade systems enhance the building’s hygrothermal performance and protect against St. Louis’ hot summers and variable winters, while also complementing the building’s contemporary style. The renovation received the 2020 AIA St. Louis Distinguished Award for Architecture.
